Charis - Lets Talk Energy Fund

The scheme provides free energy-efficient appliances and advice to households in England, Scotland and Wales who are struggling to pay their energy bills. Old cookers, fridges, freezers and washing machines are costly to run and expensive to replace so subject to available funding, the Let’s Talk Energy Fund makes available two free appliances to eligible customers, helping to stretch their household budgets a little further.

Who qualifies?
To be eligible for the appliances you must:
Be in receipt of means tested benefits or have a gross annual household income below £20,328
Not already have the type of appliance you’re applying for, or, have an existing appliance that’s more than 8 years old or broken

Cold weather payments

You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days between 1 November and 31 March.
