Wates Family Enterprise Trust gives £10,000 grant to Finchley Foodbank thanks to staff working locally

We are proud to share the news that we have received a grant from Wates Family Enterprise Trust (WFET), totalling £10,000, having been nominated by the team at Wates.

We rely on charitable donations to maintain our services and are so grateful that the WFET grant will cover the costs of our rent for a year.

The cheque was presented to Finchley Foodbank at one of our Friday donations sessions. Our Chair Paul Woodward said “We are very grateful to the Wates Family Enterprise Trust for this generous donation to pay our rent bill. At a time when our work continues to be in demand and our resources under pressure, it’s donations like this that give us the peace of mind to focus on our work. The number of people using Finchley Foodbank continues to rise as the cost of living is high and more and more people face food poverty in Barnet.”

Wates’ employees at its Bishops Avenue site in north London learned of FFB and nominated us to WFET who provide grants to charities in communities where their employees live or work.

We are delighted to have been able to nominate Finchley Foodbank for grant funding to support their vital work. We are proud to be able to support the lifeline to some of those most in need in the London borough of Barnet. These grants are an important part of our strategy to empower Wates employees to make a difference to their local communities and the causes close to their hearts.”

Wates and their supply chain partners O’Neill & Brennan have also supported FFB with donations of food and toiletries. O’Neill & Brennan Logistics Manager, Clare Meehan, has been especially committed, coordinating collections, using donated funds to purchase additional supplies, and ensuring everything is delivered to the Foodbank.
