City Bridge Foundation contributes to staff costs at Finchley Foodbank
Finchley Foodbank is pleased to share the news that City Bridge Foundation, which is London’s biggest independent charity funder, has awarded it £47,500 over two years towards the cost of employing Foodbank staff.
City Bridge Foundation is a 900-year-old charity that looks after London’s Tower Bridge and four other Thames crossings at no cost to the taxpayer, and which has also awarded over £840m to charities across London since 1995. The award to Finchley Foodbank aligns with the Foundation’s work to reduce inequality and grow stronger, more resilient and thriving communities across Greater London.
Finchley Foodbank chair of trustees said Paul Woodward said “We are very grateful to City Bridge Foundation for this generous donation, towards our staff costs. Last year we helped an average of 550 people per week, and, sadly, as we enter 2026, the number of people using Finchley Foodbank continues shows no sign of decreasing. With our services in demand and our resources under pressure, it’s donations like this that give us the peace of mind to focus on our work.”
City Bridge Foundation chair Paul Martinelli said: “We’re really delighted to be able to support Finchley Foodbank, which provides a lifeline to hundreds of people every week who find themselves facing food poverty. Its work is vital to the local community, and chimes with our aims of tackling inequality across London.”
